I have just heard Lloyds Bank in Brockenhurst is due to close in April 2016. It is the only remaining bank in the village.
In a letter sent to residents, Christopher Martin (Bank Manager for Lloyds in Lymington and Brockenhurst), stated that the bank would be closing and advised customers that they could still make deposits and withdraw cash at any post office.
However, the Post Office in Brockenhurst has been under threat of closure as well.
The closure of Lloyds Bank will mean 4000 local residents face a 10-mile round trip to Lymington just to manage their finances. For many local residents, that is just not possible.
A petition has been set up by a local resident, Suzanne King, that I haver signed. I urge any local resident to sign it as well.
I will make an appointment to speak with Chris Martin about the closure and will report back on any developments I have made.
